So first off the quality of the sushi itself is awesome and delicious and it would be 5 stars... My main issue is in the YEARS of going there and ordering takeout from there they have NEVER gotten a takeout order correct. Ever. There's always at least one part of the order wrong. I'm starting to wonder if its on purpose or something its so consistent.
amazing place for sushi and the ambiance is very nice !! it's a smaller restaurant, but the fish is very very fresh and I would definitely come back again !
I've DoorDash'd from Live Sushi way too many times. I finally came in for dinner. FYI: the bento boxes that are on DoorDash are NOT available for dine-in. What We Ordered: + Sushi Party; 5/5 + Ankimo Shiso; 5/5 The two guys were hungry, but I eat like a bird, so I joined them on the Sushi Party combo. 18 pieces of sashimi, 12 pieces of nigiri, California roll, avocado roll, and spicy tuna roll. Perfect for our party of 3. We left stuffed! You can also opt to upgrade your selections of fish. Highly recommend for a nominal price. Side Note: I highly recommend the bento boxes on DoorDash, whether it be the 2 or 3 item. I love their beef teriyaki and short ribs.
This is a relatively nondescript Japanese sushi restaurant with no frills. We've eaten here a couple times and have done takeout several times. It's been a success every time in that the chirashi bowl is so soft, juicy, and fresh. I got the chef's special chiarshi bowl for the first time, and all the sashimi pieces melted in my life. I highly recommend this place, especially due to the freshness of the fish!
Came on a random Tuesday and it was packed! Despite this, they were able to accompany me at my favorite sushi restaurant. Decided to try to hamachi toro today! It was very plump and fresh! I also got the California Roll! It was very warm and comforting!
I've celebrated two graduation dinners with my family at Live Sushi recently, and both times the food hit the spot! The first time, they didn't let us do one big table of 14, but the second time we were able to. I think it depends on which manager you are able to get on the phone. With a big group, they require that you pre-order most of your items but you can obviously add more on once you are there. You are allowed to bring 3 of your own bottles, so we had 2 white wines and a sake. The service is always really good and everything came out at a good pace. Among the starters, I liked the short rib, ankimo, and tako sunomono. The rolls we got were all really good, including the chef roll, DJ roll, and the transformer roll. We also got the 16-pc chef sashimi selection and the fusion combo and everything was very fresh and the cuts were not too thin. I loved the amaebi (nigiri and fried heads) and the scallop (nigiri and fried pieces) the most, followed by the chutoro and yellowtail. We added on uni nigiri at the end, and it was topped generously with fresh and sweet pieces of uni. Overall, it was such a fun dinner here and we were so glad we could celebrate with a big group. There's a reason my family has been coming here since I was a kid!
Great lunch option. Fish quality is great. I got a chirashi bowl which I upgraded for $8 for better fish upon the server's recommendation. Very filling and flavorful with the side of seaweed salad that came in the bowl. The rice is nothing too special compared to other sushi places, so taking off a star for that. Service is quick and very attentive! They kept refilling my hot tea and checking in. The interior boat-themed decor is interesting. I would come here again for a quick lunch.
Come here for fresh fish and the sweetest scallops! This has been the new favorite lunch spot if you're craving Japanese. For lunch you can chose from their bento boxes or from the regular menu. Today we decided to splurge and try the live sushi combination and even upgrade for an extra $8 to get a elevated selection of fish. I say the upgrade is worth it we got to try toro which was heavenly and melt in your mouth. The nigiri upgrades were also delightful. This set comes with miso soup, salad, 4 slices of sashimi, 7 piece nigiri, and a spicy tuna roll. Something that surprised me was the rice was cold in the rolls and nigiri which did make for a slightly harder texture but not something to throw off the meal! If you get the chance to try the Hokkaido scallop nigiri you should go for it! It's creamy smooth and sweet. It's probably the most delightful bite I've had in a while. The staff was pleasant and attentive as our glasses were empty. Our server gave recommendations and provided cheerful banter. Will be back soon for more delicious fish :)
Food: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 4/5 Ambiance: Casual-nice, cute ambiance Ordered the chicken karaage, DJ roll, Romeo & Juliet roll, mini scallop burger, and hamachi kama. All items were very flavorful, the menu is extensive and has many options for sushi and entree items. In relation to other similar priced 4-5 star sushi restaurants in SF, I'd say it's very comparable in price, freshness and taste. Aesthetically, the rolls look great and have great presentation. Would come back again!
San Francisco's best kept sushi secret where flavor meets affordability at a casual sushi bar. Service was great and every dish I had here was under $30, with my favorite being the chirashi bowl and live sushi combination. The Chirashi bowl is a vibrant arrangement of 13 thick cuts of fresh sashimi atop sushi rice, and is a feast for the eyes and palate. The Live Sushi Combination is a symphony of flavors and textures, showcasing 6 deluxe nigiris, 4 cuts of sashimi and 6 spicy tuna rolls. #1 Handroll, a true gem of the menu, is an indulgence worth savoring. The creamy uni and quail egg, with seared salmon skin, nestled within a crisp seaweed cone, is a burst of textures and complex flavors. The Albacore Tataki, lightly seared white tuna seasoned to perfection, melts in your mouth with a burst of umami goodness from the sauce. The Crab Napoleon, a delicate construction of crab meat, avocado, and tobiko, is a testament to the chef's artistry. From the freshness of the ingredients to being able to watch the chefs prepare each dish infront of me, it was truly a dining experience that showed sushi can be both affordable and delicious!
